BOAT OF CURIOSITIES MOORED IN BORDEAUX SINCE 2011.
A former ferry connecting the continent to Île d'Yeu, IBOAT dropped anchor in September 2011 in Bordeaux, in the Bassin à Flot n°1 district at the height of its redevelopment.
Reconverted into a floating cultural venue, the three-level boat has a concert hall/club, a cafeteria and a terrace on the deck.
The artistic approach is a bold one sensitive to the emotions stirred up by poignant meetings and projects. Every year, 2,000 artists/groups climb on board. The stage is shared by national and international personalities, but also draws heavily on the abundant wealth of local community associations. The daily after-work events – called “aperoboat” – offer a real melting pot of discoveries where artistic expression is not limited to music: exhibitions, performances and screenings are all on offer.
Firmly anchored in its city and neighbourhood, IBOAT is positioned as an unconventional and independent vehicle for dissemination. Driving a cultural policy rooted in curiosity and ambition, the crew is often involved in initiatives outside of the boat. In collaboration with the TRAFIC association, the venue organises events such as the SUPER BÉTON electronic and digital residences at the Submarine Base, the AHOY festival at the Dalle du Pertuis, USINE SONIC in partnership with La Manufacture-CDCN, and the Quartiers d’été with the Bordeaux Museum of Decorative Arts and Design.
